Pastor Jay A. Ford was born and raised in Southern California. After earning
his Bachelor of Arts degree at California Lutheran University in
Thousand Oaks, CA., he received his Master of Divinity degree from
Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, and was ordained in
1982. He is currently completing his Dissertation Project for a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling at San Francisco Theological Seminary.
Pastor Jay's first parish was in Southern Wisconsin. From there he went to serve as Associate Pastor at Hope Lutheran in Fresno, CA. He
accepted the Call to be the Pastor of St. Andrew’s in 1994. In addition
to serving at St. Andrew’s, Pastor Ford is active in the community supporting
the Lutheran pastors and clergy of the Peninsula. He is also
involved in ecumenical and multi-faith dialog groups, and has a deep interest in spiritual formation, and a passion
for peace and justice, especially for the Holy Land where he visited in
2006.
Pastor
Jay is married to Julie, is the father of two adult children, and has a
beautiful little granddaughter. He enjoys singing, and playing the
guitar and a little banjo. He is a ham radio operator (KI6MQD), and is a trained
member of the San Mateo County’s "Community Emergency Response Team" (CERT). He
holds a black belt in Hakko-Ryu Jujitsu, is a certified scuba diver, and is a practitioner of
Centering Prayer.
